Code of Conduct

Excerpted from “The Mission of Little League Baseball”:

“Through proper guidance and exemplary leadership, the Little League program assists youth in developing the qualities of citizenship, discipline, teamwork and physical well-being. By espousing the virtues of character, courage and loyalty, the Little League Baseball program is designed to develop superior citizens rather than superior athletes.”

Jamesville Dewitt Little League Code of Conduct:

Jamesville Dewitt Little League exists to instill within the youth of our community the qualities and virtues reflected in this mission. JDLL intends to provide the most positive possible little league experience for youth of all ages, backgrounds and abilities. The integrity of our program is reflected within the Coach-Parent-Player partnership. This partnership reflects the following roles and responsibilities and requires that JDLL enforce the following rules of conduct.

As a JDLL Manager/Coach I will:

• Agree with and adhere to the Rules of Conduct Form requirements for coaching
• Follow JDLL Coaching Recommendations for my league level
• Ensure that every player feels important
• Remember there is no I in team
• Present a professional and competent image, to include dress and appearance
• Present exemplary behavior during all Little League and/or related activities
• Demonstrate enthusiasm, honesty and respect for the game and participants
• Instruct, instill and exemplify all aspects of fair play
• Comply with established local, district and national Little League rules
• Display and encourage sportsmanship between players, teams and fans
• Place the emotional and physical well-being of players at the top of my priorities
• Inspect playing surfaces and provide a safe playing environment
• Not use tobacco, drugs or alcohol while involved in/around Little League and/or related activities
• Remember that the game is for the players to have fun!

As a JDLL Parent I will:

• Attend my child’s games
• Help the coach in any way I can
• Compliment the skills and techniques taught and practice with my child at home
• Be supportive of my child at all times and under all circumstances
• Be positive and supportive whether the team wins or loses
• Contact the Little League Board immediately with any concerns, first referring to the JDLL Sportsmanship Form
• Present exemplary behavior during all Little League and/or related activities, (remembering that all Managers, Coaches and Board Members are volunteers)
• Display and encourage sportsmanship at all times
• Demonstrate respect to Managers, Coaches, Umpires and players
• Help maintain a clean area and safe playing environment
• Not use tobacco, drugs or alcohol while involved in/around Little League and/or related activities
• Remember that the game is for the players to have fun!

As a JDLL Player I will:

• Have Fun!
• Present good behavior during practice, games and/or related activities
• Listen to my coach at all times
• Arrive on time for practice and games
• Attend all practices
• Try my hardest and do my best
• Pay attention to the game
• Show and encourage good sportsmanship at all times
• Cheer for my teammates
• Follow all safety rules
• Respect my team Manager, Coaches, the Umpires and other players
• Not use tobacco, drugs or alcohol
