Fall Ball FAQ

Just What is Fall Ball? Fall Ball is a time for players to sharpen their skills and to get a step up on their fellow players for the Spring 2008 Season. Individuals playing fall ball for the JDLL will be playing against teams from all around the Greater Syracuse Area.

When is Fall Ball played? Teams play Double- Headers each Sunday from August until Mid October Children are encouraged, but NOT expected to play every week.

What will it cost to play? Fees are estimated at $50.00- $60.00 per child, which includes uniforms, hats, Baseballs and umpires fees.

What levels of play should my child sign up for? Leagues are being formed at the following levels:

AAA Baseball and Softball: Ages 8, 9, 10
Majors Baseball and Softball: Ages 10, 11, 12
Juniors Baseball and Softball: Ages 12, 13, 14
Seniors Baseball and Softball: Ages 14, 15, 16

Children are encouraged (but NOT required) to "play-up" if they were at the upper end of their age bracket during this past years regular season (ie. if a 10 year old played AAA baseball during the 2004 regular season, they are encouraged to play Majors for the 2004 Fall Ball Season; If a 12 year old child played Majors they are encouraged to play Juniors Fall Ball; likewise, current 8 year olds are encouraged to register for AAA Fall Ball. By playing up, it will enable the children to experience play at the level they will most likely be playing during the 2008 year in a less competitive and more developmental environment.

How do I sign up? Click on the link below to go to the JD Little League web site and fill out an interest form for 2007 Fall Ball. League officials will use this information to determine the number of teams that we will be able to field at each level for both Baseball and Softball. (NOTE: Filling out this form DOES NOT guarantee that we will have enough players at any given level to field a team!!) We will open up registration and notify all interested when we determine the number of teams and coaches, on or around August 1st. Registration will be done online via the JDLL electronic registration center.
