Majors Results
The JD "Red" Majors Fall ball team led by coaches Mike Cariseo and Mike Wiese finished the regular Fall Ball seaon in a 3-way tie for first place in the Fayetteville - Manlius Fall Baseball League. As a result of tie breaker rules, JD Red ended up with the first seed in the resulting playoffs. JD Red won its first round game on the weekend of October 11th easily and advanced to the "Final Four". Semi-final games saw JD paired against Fabuis Pompey and FM-4 paired with Valley. JD won it's game Handily against Fabius, 17-1 in 4 innings and Valley squeaked by FM-4 winning 6-5 with the winning run scoring in the bottom of the 6th inning. The Finals played immediately after the two semi-final games paired JD Red vs Valley. After splitting their regular fall season contests, Valley jumped out to an early lead. JD Red battled back and to tie the game and then forged ahead in the 5th inning to stay, winning the Championship by a score of 10-6.
This Fall season, JD had two teams playing in the District 8 Fall Baseball program. The team coached by Neal Pascale and Ed Hughes finished the regular fall season with an impressive 9-0 and in sole posession of first place. The other JD Juniors Team coached by John Sheedy, Bob Howe, Bob Marzella, and Gary Milano finished the regular season in third place with a record of 6-3. Playoffs were held on Sunday October 12. JD-Pascale squared off against Lyncourt and advanced easily. JD-Sheedy faced off against the West End PBA, a team that had beaten them twice during the regular season. JD-S emerged from the contest victorious Winning by an 8-2 margin, setting up an all-JD final for the division Championship. In the championship JD-S jumped out to an early lead and held on win 6-2, in a very close game over the regular season champs JD-P, who was threatening at the end of the game. Both JD teams earned trophies presented after the game.
