JDLL Families,

We hope that you can join us at Lyndon Field today at 5pm to celebrate the recently renovated softball complex, which is home to both JD Red Rams softball and our JDLL Minors and Majors divisions! The ceremony will be followed by JV and Varsity softball games against Fulton. See you there!

We may not see another eclipse for another 50 years but we only have to wait a few days to see another 20% off weekend at our sponsor, Dick’s Sporting Goods! Head into Dick’s anytime from April 12-14 and use our coupon (attached) to get 20% off your entire order. This will be our last 20% off weekend of the season so don’t miss out!

Hello JDLL Families,

New York State recently signed into law a bill requiring all camps and youth sports programs to have at least one AED at locations where activities are held. In regards to devices, we are fortunate to have AEDs belonging to the JD School District at each of the locations at which we play. At St. Mary’s Field which is owned by the league, we maintain our own AED.

The legislation also required there be at least one person trained to use the AED at practices and games in the unfortunate event that a cardiac emergency might arise. To ensure that we are compliant and keeping our players safe, I would like to begin compiling a list of individuals in the league who plan to be at games and practices and are already AED trained as healthcare professionals, first responders, etc. If you are already carry an AED certification and are willing to help, please email me chadcorcoranjdll@gmail.com.

Additionally, our Safety Coordinator, Heidi Feathers, will be holding AED/CPR certification classes sometime in the near future. We’ll have more details on those soon. This would be an excellent opportunity for anyone who wants to volunteer in a very important way but not necessarily as a coach. If you would like to become AED certified and are interested in taking a class, please also contact me and I’ll add you to a list of people to contact when plans solidify.

Thank you in advance and thank you as well to all the volunteers who have already submitted their background checks and completed the USA Baseball abuse training.

Sincerely,
Chad Corcoran, JDLL President

Things to Expect in April

Posted by CHAD CORCORAN at Apr 1, 2024 5:24PM PDT

Greetings Jamesville DeWitt Little League players and families!

Registration is officially closed so I wanted to pass along a bit of information to parents, particularly those with players in the younger divisions (AA, A, Coach Pitch softball, 5/6 Tee, 4Tee) who might be new to the league.

  • Coordinators for each division have begun assembling teams around volunteer head coaches/assistant coaches, friend requests (as best they can), etc. Once that has been completed, we turn our attention to making schedules which cannot be constructed until registration is closed and the number of teams we can form in each division determined. Games will most likely begin the first full week in way (starting Monday, May 6th) and continue through mid-June typically playing 2 games each week. It is typical for most divisions to play on a rotating Mon-Thur schedule. For 4Tee, our coordinator will be determining what works best there given we only have 2 relatively small teams. Coaches should being reaching out in the next couple weeks, hopefully by mid-April, to inform parents of what team their child is on.
  • Parents of new players, the necessities will include a pair of baseball pants and a glove. The league provides a hat and jersey, both of which will be distributed towards the end of the month once they have been received and given to coaches. All the fields will be equipped with bats and helmets although many players get their own nowadays. Up until AA baseball and minors softball, players are probably fine with sneakers rather than cleats. It is mandatory that baseball players starting at the AA level wear a protective cup since they will start catching once that reach that stage. As you hopefully saw yesterday, we will have our second 20% off coupon for Dick’s Sporting Goods for the weekend of April 12-14 so you’ll have another great opportunity to save on gear.
  • Finally, Saturday, May 4th is Picture Day! Pictures will take place throughout the morning and afternoon (for all baseball and softball divisions) at Jamesville Elementary. They are indoors and therefore will take place rain or shine. There are no make-up picture days so please mark your calendar. May 4th is also our Opening Day! At noon, the first pitch will be thrown out by special guests at St. Mary’s Field. It will be followed by AAA and Majors baseball games so come for a little while, get some food, participate in the festivities, and enjoy the start of our season!

Its exciting to see nearly 75 new baseball and softball players this year come try the sports for the first time. I look forward to a fantastic spring and hopefully a dry one!

Greetings JDLL Families,

This is a reminder that the Sunday March 31st final registration deadline for spring baseball and softball is only about a week away. Now’s the time to make sure that everyone’s neighbors and friends from school are all registered! Please help spread the word to parents of younger children who might be looking to join up for the first time as they might not be receiving league emails.
